Unlike traditional cloud solutions, cunoFS doesn't need to download the whole file into the cache, but instead stores only the pieces that you access. This makes it possible to work faster with larger files, while minimizing bandwidth and data volume used.

The cache size is customizable. So if you want to cache the whole file, that's fine too!

While cloud storage is a good fit for video due to its low cost and durability, working with video stored in the cloud without cunoFS requires downloading the file onto your local machine or server first, which takes a long time and consumes bandwidth. In addition, this ends up creating multiple versions of the same file and leads to change conflicts.

When using cunoFS, you have the possibility to make an object storage bucket look like a regular folder on your disk. This means you can use any software you want with cloud files — and the software doesn’t even have to know that it’s working with cloud files.

cunoFS can be used with any object storage service or provider and supports all the latest security standards such as TLS encryption. cunoFS is also VPN-friendly: you don’t need a VPN to use it, but it works just fine with a VPN.

With cunoFS, you can work directly on cloud files, rather than downloading and uploading copies. This reduces disk space you need locally, and saves a lot of time on download and upload tasks. But if you would prefer to use pinning to have local copies to work on, that's possible too.
